Trauma Therapy: A holistic Approach to healing

I don’t necessarily think of my past as “traumatic”, but something just feels off…

Trauma isn’t just what happened to you—it’s how your body and nervous system learned to survive.

You may have grown up with emotionally unavailable or addicted caregivers, always feeling like you had to be the strong one, the fixer, the one who kept everything together.

Now, as an adult, you find yourself:

  • Overworking, overgiving, and feeling responsible for everyone else.

  • Feeling anxious, hypervigilant, or constantly waiting for the other shoe to drop.

  • Struggling to relax or truly enjoy life—like you always need to be doing something.

Using deeper rooted trauma therapies like IFS parts work (jump to about IFS) or inner child healing (jump to about inner child healing), we’ll explore how your past is showing up in your present and keeping you stuck.

With this new awareness, we will challenge the fears, beliefs and coping mechanisms that just don’t work and replace them with ones that do.

The past might always be part of your present, but it no longer has to control you or your future.

what to expect from trauma therapy

Starting trauma therapy can feel intimidating—trust me, that’s totally normal! It’s tough to open up about things that may have never been addressed, especially if you grew up in a “sweep it under the rug” family. While I will ask the hard questions, I also respect your autonomy and space to not answering questions you don’t want to, right now or ever.

Our First Steps Together

In our first few sessions, we’ll focus on building a connection so you feel comfortable. Once we dive into the trauma work, we’ll explore your inner parts and key relationships, helping you uncover patterns that no longer serve you. I will ask you about your goals and we will frequently check in to make sure we are meeting your needs.

Each therapy session and process is catered to each unique individual, so it is hard to explain exactly what the process might be like for you. But please feel free to ask questions during our initial consultation.

How do I get started?

Request your free 15-minute consultation here, and I’ll be in touch via email within 48 business hours to schedule a time to chat. This consultation lets us see if we’re a good fit to work together.

If we decide to move forward, I’ll guide you through the onboarding process in my client portal and provide a link for our online therapy sessions. Most clients meet with me weekly, but bi-weekly sessions are also available.

Does this sound like you?

  • You grew up with an emotionally unavailable or substance addicted caretaker

  • You may have tried talk therapy, but it didn’t feel like “enough”

  • You find it hard to relax or just “go with the flow”

  • You’re unsure of your own needs or how to assert them

  • You feel like you constantly live in fight/flight/freeze

  • You’re always tired

  • You wonder why you keep repeating the same patterns even if you commit to making a change

  • You don’t feel like your childhood was “traumatic”, but it just feels like you can never be “enough” or be happy

If you answered yes to any of these, you might benefit from a deeper form of trauma therapy. Ready to make a lasting change once and for all?

Why I don’t accept insurance: Insurance companies mandate a diagnosis to cover services. Firstly, a diagnosis becomes a permanent entry in your medical records. Secondly, many clients I work with do not meet the diagnostic criteria. For confidentiality reasons, I opt not to accept insurance to avoid sharing your records with insurance companies.

some FAQs

  • Trauma therapy goes beyond talking about past events by focusing on how those experiences are stored in your mind and body. Through approaches like IFS and inner child work, we work to access and process the root causes of your symptoms, helping you make real, lasting shifts rather than just managing surface-level issues.

  • Many clients feel stuck because traditional therapy often doesn’t reach the deeper layers where trauma is stored. By working with evidence-based techniques specifically for trauma, we target those underlying patterns and emotions, giving you a chance to heal in ways that might feel new and, hopefully, more freeing.

  • The length of therapy varies depending on your goals and the complexity of your experiences. Some clients find meaningful progress within a few months, while others prefer to work at a slower, more comprehensive pace. We’ll create a plan that feels manageable and supportive for you, whether you want short-term relief or deeper, long-term healing.

  • Initial session (50 minutes): $140
Each subsequent session (50 minutes): $120

I do not accept insurance. I accept payments by HSA, Credit Card, or Debit Card.

I provide all documentation for out of network benefits so that you may be reimbursed by insurance (check with your provider).

    Check you possible reimbursement here.

Sometimes choosing out of network benefits is cheaper out of pocket than your co-pay!

Why not using insurance might be better?

    • Quicker access to services

    • Insurance can dictate length/frequency/duration of services which sometimes doesn’t meet the needs of clients

    • Insurance requires a diagnosis that sticks with you permanently

Exploring IFS and Inner Child Work

Inner Family Systems (or IFS Parts Work) & Inner Child Work are both powerful methods for helping to heal trauma that go beyond traditional talk therapy. See below to learn more about these models for healing and how they might be able to help you!

Internal Family Systems (IFS) parts work is a method that allows you to connect with different 'parts' of yourself that may be holding onto old wounds, protecting you, or working hard to keep you safe. Each part of us has a role, and by engaging with them, you can find new ways of understanding and healing.

Diving Deep with IFS Parts Work

What is parts work?

IFS involves getting to know each part of yourself in a compassionate and non-judgmental way. You may have parts that are angry, scared, or even numb; these parts each have a purpose, often shaped by past experiences. By getting to know them, you can begin to understand and reorient them towards a more positive role in your life.

We often have “manager parts” that run our day-to-day lives. For example, a people-pleasing part. This part might have developed in childhood because it learned that to stay “safe”, you had to make sure that everyone else was happy. In parts work, we will help lessen this part’s burden.

The role of inner child work

Inner child work is all about healing the wounds from your past and understanding how your early relationships shape your present. Our connection with primary caretakers profoundly influences our emotional landscape. Even if you recall your childhood as “good” or “happy,” it's important to recognize that our caregivers are human, too—they might not have always met our needs or given us what we truly deserved. Through inner child work, you can process unresolved feelings and past pains, empowering you to move forward with greater understanding and compassion for yourself.

How does Inner child work, work?

Inner child work is about reconnecting with the playful, innocent part of yourself that still exists within. It’s a journey of exploration and healing, where we tap into those feelings and experiences from your childhood. Sometimes, this means engaging in activities that your inner child loved, like coloring, playing games, or simply having fun without a care in the world.

Through this process, you learn to reparent yourself—offering the love, support, and understanding that may have been missing in your early years. This nurturing connection can help relieve symptoms of anxiety, sadness, and feeling stuck, allowing you to embrace your true self and live more fully in the present.
