Anxiety, trauma & couples therapy in CT
Within each of us lies a longing to be seen, heard, and embraced in our entirety.
Hi, I’m kyrsti tam, LMFT-A.
Kyrsti Tam, MFT, LMFT-A
Supervised by Julie Liefeld, LMFT
Let me tell you about why I am different from other therapists:
I am NOT going to tell you what you “should” or “shouldn’t” be doing. It is my job to help you explore your options, not tell you how to live your life.
I will ask the hard questions.
I am a therapist because therapy helped me with trauma, people pleasing, self-esteeming & so much more (I was a CPA for almost a decade before this!).
I use humor & swear in session.
I will push you & hold space to sit with you as you explore your deepest, most difficult emotions, experiences, memories, or thoughts.
I will help you unpack past traumas so you can make sense of how they impact you TODAY.
I am open to and encourage integrating any type of holistic practices into therapy (in my personal life I incorporate yoga, meditation, crystals, breathing, and tarot).
Since you are on my “about me” page, you obviously want to know…about me. I show up as my authentic self. My clients want a therapist who jokes, uses humor, swears, and is just…human. Once we get to know each other, I may be direct and challenge you. I believe we are all a work in progress, which I think is beautiful.
Before becoming a therapist, I spent nearly a decade as a tax accountant. I was a chronic people pleaser. I couldn’t say no, was overworked, fearful of disappointing others, burnt out, overwhelmed, you name it. I sought out therapy. So I know first hand how transformative, but challenging, therapy can be. I experienced such profound change, I decided to become a therapist and I LOVE what I do (and I actually know what self-care is now!). I'm passionate about guiding others toward their own fulfillment.
I have been practicing therapy since 2022. I live in Connecticut with my partner, 2 cats & a parrot. Beyond therapy, I enjoy cycling, yoga, and reading. On the weekends you can catch me at a winery or spending time with family. I am also a little health-food obsessed.
